I will work every day of the next four years for the citizens of Charles County! I have funded my own campaign. I owe the special interests nothing. The issues will be addressed with the mindset of what is best for Charles County and what do the citizens want. This will not be a part time job for me. It’s time for a change!

MY CAMPAIGN ISSUES

I will work hard to bring jobs to Charles County through commercial and industrial development. This will increase our tax revenue without adding children to our school system. This is the only way we can grow ourselves out of our revenue stagnation and properly fund schools, roads and public safety.

JOBS & THE ECONOMY

Charles County citizens are aware that the Indian Head area has been on the decline for over a decade. The Safeway closing this summer is the latest in a string of businesses leaving the county! The rezoning of 36,000 acres into the WCD (Watershed Conservation District) is not going to help Western Charles County or the Maryland Airport. Indian Head is a qualified Federal Opportunity Zone. Governor Hogan has a program called “More jobs for Marylanders”. I will be calling businesses in the DMV area touting Charles County. Telling them we are open for business. I will work to repeal the WCD with something more business friendly but without destroying the rural charm of our vibrant county.

WATERSHED CONSERVATION DISTRICT

The commuters of Charles County need transportation improvements to get to work. Widening of RT 5 North to I-495 is long overdue. The inter-county connector should be completed to increase commuter safety and Police and Fire/EMS response times. The commissioners need to reapply for the inter-county connector and get it approved.

TRANSPORTATION

Our schools need more money. But we also need accountability and transparency from the school system on how they spend our tax dollars wisely. The ratio of administrative costs compared to teacher salaries is still unacceptable. We are spending school funds to hire two psychologists instead of more teachers. Standards are being lowered to increase graduation numbers and our students are not being properly prepared to enter college or the workforce. I will work to balance out spending and create new revune streams to allow us to raise teacher salaries without decreasing school standards.
